Upsell Detection

How AccountWatch identifies revenue expansion opportunities from client conversations.

AccountWatch uses AI to scan client conversations for signals that indicate expansion opportunities — requests for additional services, interest in new capabilities, or growing scope that suggests the client is ready for an upsell.

How It Works

When analyzing Slack messages for health scores, the AI also looks for upsell signals:

  • Direct requests — "Can you also handle our social media?" or "We'd love to add SEO"
  • Scope expansion — Conversations about new projects, additional deliverables, or increased budgets
  • Satisfaction signals — Strong positive sentiment combined with growth language
  • Competitive mentions — "We're evaluating other vendors for X" (opportunity to expand before they look elsewhere)

Viewing Upsell Opportunities

Navigate to Insights > Upsells to see all detected opportunities. Each entry shows:

  • Client name — Which client the opportunity is for
  • Signal summary — AI-generated description of the opportunity
  • Detected date — When the signal was identified
  • Status — New, In Progress, or Closed

Managing Opportunities

Click an upsell opportunity to see the full AI analysis, including:

  • The specific messages that triggered the detection
  • Suggested approach for the conversation
  • Estimated expansion potential

You can update the status as you act on opportunities:

  • New — Just detected, not yet reviewed
  • In Progress — Your team is actively pursuing
  • Closed — Converted or dismissed

Best Practices

  1. Review weekly — Check upsell detections as part of your weekly team meeting
  2. Act quickly — Upsell signals have a shelf life; the client's interest may wane
  3. Cross-reference with health — High health + upsell signal = ideal timing
  4. Track conversion — Use the status field to measure your upsell hit rate
